George M. Golden, 82, of Braintree, passed away in Abington on May 14, 2017 after a long illness.

George was born in Quincy, MA to George A. and Marie C. (MacDonald) Golden on September 7, 1934. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1953. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Bentley College. He worked as a Cost Analysis Accountant for New England Telephone for 35+ years and the Internal Revenue Service for 23 years.  He was a member of Braintree Knights of Columbus and a Braintree Town Meeting Member for several years.  He served for three years in the Massachusetts National Guard. 

George is preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Judy (Gray) Golden, his daughter, Donna (Golden) Knight, a brother Eugene Golden and sister-in-law Ginny Golden.

George is survived by his children, George Michael Golden Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL, MaryAnne (Patrick) Barry and  Jean (Mel) MacDonald all of Abington, William of Quincy, John (Kimberly) of Northborough; his siblings Jack (Denise) of Punta Gorda, FL, Robert (Nancy) of Kingston, Gerard of Pembroke, and Clare (Michael) Druther of Weymouth; his grandchildren Patrick and Stephanie Barry of South Boston, Matthew Barry of Abington, Lauren, Kimberly and Bobby Knight  of Hanover, Kaleigh MacDonald of Abington and Daniel Golden of Northborough. 

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 19th at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St. Braintree.  Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in South Weymouth.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St, (Rt37) Braintree on Thursday, May 18 from 5 – 8 PM.
