About Us

The McMaster Funeral Home, along with three generations of the McMaster family has been serving the community for over seventy-five years. The funeral home's founder,  Leo J. McMaster started in the business at age 19 with his uncle, Edward L. Bean, owner of the Bean Funeral Home in Quincy Massachusetts.

Leo opened his own store front funeral business in the late 1920's at 843 Washington St. Braintree, where the Cumberland Farms Store now stands. He moved his business to its present location at 86 Franklin St. Braintree in 1934.

His son, Richard L. McMaster started working with him in 1941 at the age of 15. After the death of Leo in 1947, Richard owned and operated the funeral business until his death in 1999.

Christopher W. McMaster, Richards’s son, has been working in the funeral business for 37 years and is the present owner of McMaster Funeral Home.
