Albert James Conte of Weymouth formerly of Braintree passed away on December 29, 2016 at the age of 93.  Born in Boston, Al was a master ship builder during World War II.  He married his wife Rose in 1948 and they made their home in Braintree.  There they spent many wonderful years together until her passing in 1998. 

Al received his Masters of Education and was a very well regarded Sheet Metal Teacher at South Boston High.  To this day former students still thank him for his guidance and mentorship.  He was also a lifelong member of Local 17.

Proud of his heritage, Papa loved all things Italian.  He loved to cook for his family and was known for his famous calzone.  Al enjoyed venturing into the North End and was a member of the Sons of Italy. An avid golfer, he always enjoyed the Conte Classic.

Survived by his wife Winifred Conte, his daughter Carolann Davey and husband John of Braintree, and son Joseph and wife Mary of Hingham.  Beloved Papa to Sean and Tracy Davey, Adam and Sara Davey, Brian and Emma Davey, Katelyn Conte, and Stephen Conte.  Great Grandfather to Samuel Davey and Isla Davey.  Predeceased by his wife Rose, sisters Gilda, Carmella, Esther, Mary, and brother Alfred.

Al will be remembered for his ever present smile, wonderful sense of humor, his unconditional devotion to his family and friends, and let’s not forget his love for duct-tape.
