Shirley M (French) Burrows

Shirley Mae (French) Burrows, age 91, of Braintree passed away after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family on September 23, 2016. She was the wife of the late Frank Martin, Robert Ross Monaghan and Edwin Burrows. Shirley was born in Somerville to Judson and Dorothy (Slate) French on February 26, 1925. The family resided in Somerville and West New Portland, Maine. Upon graduation in 1943, she was employed by Polaroid as a glass inspector for the U.S. Services during WW II.  Shirley moved to Braintree in 1961 where she was a faithful member of South Congregational Church. Shirley was a 50+ year member of The Order of Eastern Star. She was known as the family photographer for every event.  Shirley was a devoted supporter of the Quincy Medical Center Breast Cancer Support Group and the Relay for Life. She was the oldest camper at Cozy Pond Camping Resort. Loving mother of Lynn (Monaghan) Zopatti and her partner James Troop of Braintree, with whom she resided, Lorraine (Martin) Chapman of Rockland and Sheila (Martin) Brown of Quincy, 2 step-sons, Robert Monaghan, Jr. and Wayne Monaghan and a step-daughter Carole (Monaghan) Canwell.  She had 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Visit the McMaster Funeral Home 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37) Braintree Thursday September 29 from 5-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the South Congregational Church, 1075 Washington St, Braintree.  Friday September 30 at 12pm. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers the family sincerely requests that donations in her name may be made to  the South Congregational Church 1075 Washington St. Braintree MA 02184.
