Welch, William C., of Sandwich, formerly of Braintree passed away peacefully at home on Saturday August 19, 2023. He was 66 years old.
Born in Boston, Bill attended Archbishop Williams High School and went on to Bridgewater State College. He pursued a career in software programming and relocated to Florida, an experience which served as inspiration for his published novel. Upon returning north, Bill completed his degree in Elementary Education and began teaching fourth grade in Randolph. Bill enjoyed teaching his students and advocating for fellow teachers in the Teacher’s Union. In retirement Bill was active in several village communities in Bourne and Sandwich, wrote and gardened. Bill will be remembered for his quick wit, his ability to quickly connect with others, and through thoughtful reflections on society.
Bill was the son of William C. Welch of Braintree and the late Barbara (Collyer) Welch. Bill is survived by his brother Tom and wife Mary of Dover, his brother Rick and wife Kathy of Rockland, his stepmother Marie Welch, and an extended family of nephews, nieces, great nephew, great nieces and step-siblings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street (Route 37), Braintree on Saturday September 9, 2023 from 1-3PM. Funeral services and burial private.
