William F. Murphy (Bill), of Duxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 78 after a long illness.  

Bill was born on April 12, 1946, to the late Bernice C. Rider Murphy and Francis E. Murphy.  He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne (McCormack) Murphy.  Loving father of William Murphy and his wife Joanne of Duxbury, and Leanne Fahey and her husband John of Kingston.  Cherished Grampy of Kayla and Carlee Fahey and Olivia Murphy.  He is also survived by his brother James Murphy of Lynn, MA.

Bill was born in Boston and raised in Braintree.  He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Massachusetts.  He had an illustrious career in the Outdoor Advertising industry retiring as Executive Vice President of OUTFRONT Media inc. with the pinnacle of his career being induction into the Outdoor Advertising Association of America Hall of Fame in April 2011.

Bill loved the outdoors, nature, and all animals.  His undisputed favorite, his grand dog Riley.  Countless hours on the water was never enough and always better with a fishing rod in hand.  He was an avid reader, and an expert in World History and Politics. His greatest passion and purpose in life was time spent with family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 15th from 4-8pm at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Braintree. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 16th at 10:00am at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree. Interment Braintree Cemetery.
