Violet K Erickson Obituary
Violet K. Erickson, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026 at Bridges Assisted Living Memory Care in Pembroke, MA.
Violet was born on August 2, 1929 to her beloved parents, Nicholas and Georgia (Pershake) Koumaris. She grew up in Quincy, MA with her three sisters and two brothers, and graduated from Quincy High School. She went on to graduate from Mansfield Beauty Academy and worked as a hairdresser at the Marvel Beauty Shop in Quincy.
In 1954, Violet married Edwin W. Erickson after waiting for him to return from his service in the Korean War, where he was held in captivity as a prisoner of war for over 2 years. Violet and Eddie lived in Braintree, MA most of their married life, where they raised their three daughters. Violet spent all of her time caring for her family, watching over and caring for her aging parents, and then later, doting on her seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. One of the things her children and grandchildren will always remember is how she and Eddie would call each one of them every year on their birthday to sing Happy Birthday over the phone. She continued this tradition even after his death. Something she always enjoyed was getting her family together for holidays and gatherings. That’s when she was happiest. Her family was the focus of her life.
Violet lived a long life filled with love, caring, and family. She will be missed beyond measure, forever loved, and always remembered by her family and all those who knew her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Christine M. Smith and her husband Andrew of East Bridgewater, Cynthia E. Wysocki and her husband Michael of Holbrook, and Karen J. Gamel and her husband William of Sugar Land, Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Scheets (Justin), Allison Smith, Matthew Smith (Emily), Kristen Desaulniers (Timothy), Bryan Wysocki (Emily), Christopher Gamel (Neil Ames), Daniel Gamel, and ten great grandchildren, Vivian, Liam, Claire and Luke Scheets, Jackson, Mila, Tyson and Connor Desaulniers, Colton Wysocki, and Oliver Gamel-Ames.
