Born on July 7, 1939, in Brookline, Massachusetts, Valerie lived a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Valerie was the cherished daughter of the late Vinton and Geraldine Wilson. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Gerry, with whom she shared a close bond throughout her life. Valerie’s legacy of love and kindness continues through her devoted husband, Richard MacLean, whom she married on November 29, 1957, in a beautiful ceremony in Boston. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning nearly seven decades.
Valerie was the proud and loving mother of Valerie and Richard, who carry forward her nurturing spirit and values. Her heart was further expanded by her grandchildren, Katie, Kelley, Nicholas, and Michael, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Valerie’s joy continued to grow with the addition of her great-grandchildren, Kiley, Olivia, and Felix, who brought immeasurable happiness to her later years.
A graduate of Girl’s Latin School in 1957, Valerie pursued higher education at Bentley, where she earned a degree in accounting. Her career as an accountant at Liberty Mutual in Boston was marked by dedication and excellence until her retirement in 2006. Valerie’s colleagues and clients admired her for her meticulous attention to detail and her unwavering integrity.
Beyond her professional achievements, Valerie’s life was enriched by the simple joys she found in her hobbies and interests. She had a profound love for the ocean and the beach, where she often found solace and inspiration. Her sewing and baking talents brought joy to her family, and she delighted in creating homemade treasures and treats that filled her home with warmth and comfort. Above all, Valerie cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, always making room in her heart and her schedule for those she loved.
Valerie was known for her kindness and gentle demeanor, qualities that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a beacon of compassion, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. Her generosity of spirit and her ability to make everyone feel valued and heard were hallmarks of her character.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 30th from 6-8pm at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street (Rt. 37), Braintree. A service to honor and celebrate Valerie’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 1st at 9:30 a.m. in the McMaster Funeral Home. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Valerie are warmly invited to attend and share in the memories and love that she so freely gave.
