Salvatore “Sam” Bonomo of Carver, died peacefully on Sunday May 30, 2021 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth, at the age of 94. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Barry) Bonomo, who died in October of 2015.
Born in Boston, he was one of six children of the late Gaspare and Vita (Angilieri) Bonomo. A former resident of Hanover, Sam had made his home in Carver for the past 37 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked for many years for Boston Edison.
A longtime parishoner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, he volunteered for many years in the parish Bingo program.
Sam was a veteran of WW II, serving with the Marine Corps in the Pacific Area, until his honorable discharge in Sept. of 1944.
He is the devoted father of James R. Bonomo of Whitman and Daniel J. Bonomo and his wife Roanne of Plymouth; dear grandfather of Dana Gropman and Jenna Bonomo, both of Wareham; cherished great grandfather of Farrah, Cameron and Serena. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Sam was the brother of the late James and Phillip Bonomo, Jennie Pascarella, Agatina McConvey and Beatrice Casali.
A period of visitation will be held in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 130 Main St Carver, Monday June 7 from 10 to 10:45AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM. Burial at Hanover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Sam’s name be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Arrangements by the McMaster Funeral Home Braintree.
