Ralph "Buddy" S. Boynton Jr. Obituary

Ralph “Buddy” Stuart Boynton Jr., of Jupiter, Florida passed away on July 13, 2024.  He was 72 years old.

Buddy was born on September 7, 1951 in Boston to Ralph and Emily Boynton.  He moved to Braintree as a young child and attended Braintree public schools.  He graduated from Braintree High and went on to graduate from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.  Buddy worked for the Patriot Ledger for 39 years, retiring as an editor.  Upon retirement, Buddy, an avid golfer, worked on staff at Hatherly Country Club in Scituate, MA, where he enjoyed interacting with members on a daily basis.

In December 1979, Buddy married his now ex-wife, Melinda Mitchell.  In December 1984, Buddy and Melinda had their one-and-only daughter, Courtney.

Buddy was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend.  He loved to play golf, read, watch any kind of sport, and be with his family.  He was an avid New England Patriots fan, so much so that he often watched “reruns” of games and got as excited as if it was live action.  His passion for the New England Patriots stems from his MA pride, which he passed down to his daughter.

Buddy is survived by his daughter Courtney Behar, who was the light of Buddy’s life, his son-in-law David Behar, grandson Nicholas Behar, sisters Barbara Ryan and Nancy LaPlante, nieces Julie Labua and Virginia Harrington, and nephew David Ryan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, July 22 from 4-7pm at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Braintree. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday July 23, at 10:00am at the Church of Saint Clare, 1244 Liberty St., Braintree. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Buddy was an avid supporter of the Wounded Warriors Project.  The family sincerely requests in lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity that meant so much to him. Donations may be made online at: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/
