Phyllis F. (Budrick) Murphy Obituary

Phyllis F. (Budrick) Murphy – of Braintree ascended into the loving arms of God on April 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Phyllis was born on July 17, 1933, and grew up in Quincy, with her parents Joseph and Filomena Budrick, siblings Stanley and Casper Budrick and Anne Muir, all who have predeceased her. The family owned a store on Main Street, where Phyllis would scoop ice cream and help the kids pick out their penny candy.

2025 marked her 70th year as a Regis College graduate. After college, Phyllis taught in one of the first non-segregated schools in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Soon after, she was introduced to Bob (Robert) Murphy, by a lifeguard on Nantasket Beach. Bob was the love of her life, and they would go onto to celebrate 67 years of marriage. They moved to Braintree, where they settled into an incredible neighborhood filled with children and those that would become lifetime friends.  It is here that they raised their six children and joined St. Clare’s Church. Phyllis also volunteered at St. Clare’s and South Shore Hospital for many years.

Bob and Phyllis enjoyed travelling the world, especially with their friends Anne and Richard Musmeci.

Phyllis was an incredible mother to Stephen Murphy, and his wife Deborah, of Braintree, Robert Murphy Jr., and his wife Jayne, of Quincy, Garrett Murphy of Los Angeles, CA, Lawrence Murphy of Portland, OR, Thomas Murphy, and his wife Jitta, of Fort Collins, CO, and Patricia Murphy, of Norwell, MA.

She was a proud grandmother to seven and great grandmother to six. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and her dear friends at St. Clare’s and at Memory Café at the Norwell Council on Aging.

Phyllis enjoyed endless hours of listening to Polka music, watching the singing priests on Catholic TV and laughing to Seinfeld. A friend to many, and an incredible Mom, she will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on April 29, 2025, from 5-8 PM at McMaster Funeral Home 86 Franklin Street (Rt. 37), Braintree.
