Normand Lavoie, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10th after declining health. Eldest son of the late Joseph Lavoie and Violet (Frenette) Lavoie. He was born and raised in Lowell, MA along with his sister, Claudette (Lavoie) Cohen of Westford, MA, Paul Lavoie of Framingham, MA and the late Serge Lavoie of Waltham, MA.
Beloved husband of the late Patricia (Pelletier) Lavoie, father to Mark Lavoie and wife Debra of Braintree, MA and the late David Lavoie of Deltona, FL. Grandfather to Corey Lavoie and his wife Cara of Norton, MA, and Nathan Lavoie and Jared Lavoie of Braintree, MA. Great grandfather to Ryan, Harley, Evy, and Lea. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Normand worked for Mack Trucks, Inc. in Allston, MA for 33 years, first as a diesel mechanic and later as Shop Foreman. After he retired from Mack Trucks, he briefly worked at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, MA. After moving to Florida, Norm continued to work as a supervisor of toll takers for Volusia County beaches.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and his favorite Boston sports teams, the Patriots and Bruins. He also took great pleasure in taking his family on boat rides down the St. John’s River as well as the intercoastal waterway in New Smyrna, Florida.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, May 17th from 2-5PM at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street (Rt. 37), Braintree. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 18th at 10am at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
