Maureen H. McDonald, 79, of Braintree MA, passed away at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on November 22, 2025.

 

She was born in Boston on November 3rd, 1946, to Helen and William Hasenfuss.

 

A graduate of Dedham High School in 1964, Maureen found her calling as a paraprofessional in the Braintree Public Schools system, helping countless students with special needs pursue a quality education.

 

She married Malcolm N. McDonald on October 26, 1968, at St. Mary’s Church in Dedham, MA. They had two children, Douglas and Leeanne, and remained devoted to one another for their entire lives.

 

Maureen always enjoyed a good book, and had many fond memories to share of summertimes in Oak Bluffs MV, in an old house full of family. She had an unmatched ability to fill an enormous holiday table with love, food, and good cheer. Her hospitality and generosity of spirit is fondly remembered by the many friends of her children who were welcomed into her home and treated like family from their first introduction.

 

Maureen is survived by her siblings: brother Billy Hasenfuss and his wife Rose, brother Kevin Hasenfuss and his wife Selena, and brother John Hasenfuss, as well as her children: daughter Leeanne McDonald, son Douglas McDonald and daughter-in-law Jennifer Fridy, and their daughter, Maureen’s beloved granddaughter Saffron.

 

She is now joining her parents Helen (Gram) and Bill (Pup-Pup), and her husband Malcolm in much-deserved rest.

 

Per her final wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Interment will be at Blue Hills Cemetery, with Malcolm. She will be forever missed.
