Mary Jo (Hansberry) Keogh, 93, of Braintree passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024. Predeceased by beloved husband the late William C. Keogh, and son the late William J. Keogh of North Andover. Survived by son John F. Keogh and wife Genevieve of Braintree, daughter in law Sarah Keogh and husband Ken Klonoski of North Andover; 7 grandchildren: Bill Keogh and wife Heather of Newton, NH, Tim Keogh and wife Cassie of Raleigh, NC, Dan Keogh and wife Christine of Salem, MA, Mary Ferretti and husband Joe of Portsmouth, NH, Brian Keogh of Medford, MA, Alison Keogh of Somerville, MA, Mike Keogh and wife Madeleine of Yarmouth, ME; 6 great-grandchildren: Guy, Winifred, Catherine, Paulina, Matilda, and Lucas; beloved sister Kathleen Hennessy of Saugus, and many relatives and friends both here and in Ireland.

She was born in Menlough, Co. Galway, Ireland on a dairy farm that is still run by her nephew, John Hansberry. At 19 she emigrated to Dorchester where she met her future husband Bill. After many Irish dances they were married on September 8, 1951 and lived happily together for 53 years in Malden and Medford. A long-time active member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Medford, Mary Jo gave of her time and abundant energy as President of the Mothers’ Club, Prefect of Sodality, and eucharistic minister. Family meant everything to Mary Jo. She was a talented knitter, crocheter, gardener, entertainer, and baker. She made the best Irish bread you ever tasted.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Mary Jo on Friday May 10, 2024 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at McMaster Funeral Home located at 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Braintree. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St. Braintree. Burial is at Ridgewood Cemetery 177 Salem St. North Andover, MA where all attending will meet at 1:00 PM. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jo’s memory may be made to Bishop Reed, The Catholic TV Network, PO Box 9196, Watertown, MA 02471.
