Martin J. "Marty" McPherson, 66, of Braintree, Massachusetts, died suddenly of a stroke on April 23, 2021.
Martin was born December 16, 1954 in Braintree, Massachusetts to the late Eleanor (Ellie) and Francis (Fran) McPherson also of Braintree. Martin is survived by his sister Mary McCulloch and her husband John of Weymouth, and three brothers Frank McPherson and his wife Susan of Quincy, Kevin McPherson and his wife Eliane of Plymouth and Ronald McPherson and his wife Cindy of Athens, GA. He was proud to be called “Uncle Marty” by his loving nieces and nephews who will miss his smile, gentle nature, laughter, and hugs.
Martin graduated from Braintree High School in 1974. He worked for many years at the John Scott Nursing Home in Braintree and was a fixture within the Braintree High School Athletics Department for over 40 years, volunteering at sports events and town activities. In 2009, he was recognized for his conscientious dedication and service to the Braintree School Department by naming the concession stand at the High School Football field in his honor.
Martin’s passion for volunteerism was an inspiration to his family, friends, neighbors, and countless members of the community. He was loved by all and will continue to motivate those whose lives he impacted for years to come.
A private service for immediate family members is to be held Friday, April 30, 2021, at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street (Rt.37) Braintree, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Marty McPherson to the Braintree Police Officers Association or Braintree Police Superior Officers Association - please make checks payable to "BPOA Scholarship Fund" OR "BPSOA Scholarship Fund" and mail c/o Braintree Police Department, 282 Union St., Braintree, MA 02184.
