Marie Katherine Williams

Marie Katherine Williams 97, of Hingham died peacefully in her home at Linden Ponds on January 28th.

Marie was born in Quincy, the seventh child of eight and only daughter to George A. and Mary C. (Moran) Williams.

Marie was raised in Braintree and educated in Braintree schools graduating from Braintree High School. She attended Vesper George School of Art in Boston.

Marie was an accomplished artist and decorator. She was employed as the window decorator at Remick’s Department Store of Quincy and was known for her sense of color and design. More recently Marie worked for the family business, Williams Coal and Oil in Braintree as Office manager until her retirement.

Marie will be remembered for her strong work ethic, dedication to family, keen sense of fashion, generous nature and her love of travel. She traveled extensively throughout the world and particularly enjoyed her travel to China bringing back many gifts.

She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by her eighteen surviving nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She was generous with her attention and had the unique ability to make each person she encountered feel special and more attended to having been in her presence.

She is predeceased by her parents as well as seven brothers George, Harold, Elliott, Lloyd, John, Robert, and Charles whom she cared for and loved dearly.

In accordance with COVID-19 regulations, which require face coverings, social distancing and limited seating capacity a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 3rd at 10:30AM in Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington Street, Weymouth. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
