Marie B. (Slattery) Bishop of Braintree, passed away on Sunday, May 16, at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Bernard Bishop. Loving mother of Bernard Bishop and his wife, Janis, of Oakland, CA; Brian Bishop of Plymouth, MA; Kevin Bishop and his late wife, Glenna, of Medford, NJ; Julie O’Halloran and her husband, James, of Braintree. Proud grandmother of Lauren and Kevin O’Halloran. Marie is predeceased by her three brothers, Joseph, Paul, and James Slattery.
Born in Boston to the late Timothy and Helen Slattery, Marie grew up in the Neponset section of Dorchester and attended St. Ann and St. Gregory Schools. Upon graduation she worked as an operator at New England Telephone. Marie and her husband, Ben, moved to Braintree in 1959 to raise their family, where she remained in the same beloved neighborhood for 60 years.
Friends and family are kindly invited to the Funeral Mass to be held at The Church of St. Clare, 1244 Liberty Street, Braintree, MA at 11:30AM on Thursday, May 20th. Interment will follow at the Braintree Cemetery on Plain Street, Braintree. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the wake will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Marie’s memory to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt. Carmel Road, Danvers, MA, 01923.
