Lois Carr Obituary

Lois A. (Fontaine) Carr (84) of Braintree passed away on December 27, 2020. Devoted wife of William F. Carr for 63 years. Beloved mother of William and Rebecca Carr of Concord, NH, Michael and Sharon Carr of Holbrook, Kevin and Brian Carr of Braintree, Lynn and Gregory Riley of Cumberland, RI, Patricia and Dana Kurty of New Smyrna Beach, FL, John and Rene Carr of Quincy, and Annmarie and Stephen Fennelly of Hingham. Adored grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Cherished sister of Jeanne Griffin of Middleboro (formerly Marshfield) and the late Lynn Fitzpatrick of Weymouth. Loved aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews, caring neighbor, and dear friend to many.

Born in Medford and raised in Dorchester, she loved her life in Braintree for over 50 years. After graduating from Dorchester School for Girls in 1953, Lois worked as a retail buyer for Jordan Marsh until she became pregnant with her first child. Lois devoted her entire life to raising her children and grandchildren with her adored husband Bill by her side.

They enjoyed a love story unlike all others. Always thinking of others, Lois sacrificed her time and energy caring for the sick, taking two aunts and her mother into her home in their last years. As firm believers in the Catholic faith, Lois and Bill worked tirelessly with many charities through the church of St. Clare, including the Catholic Daughters. She was also a Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher. Her generous spirit, infectious laugh, and warm smile will be missed by everyone who knew her.

A private funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 30 at the Church of St. Clare, Braintree. Interment is also private.

In lieu of flowers, Lois’s family sincerely requests that donations in her name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. .
