Linda M. Nichols Obituary

Linda Nichols, 69, of Brockton, Massachusetts, formerly of Braintree, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.

Daughter of Earl Nichols and the late Margaret Nichols, Linda was a devoted sister to Susan Connolly, and Jim Nichols and his wife Cathy. She was a beloved aunt, affectionately known as “Aya,” to Molly Croal and her husband Tim, and Holly Nichols Sosa and her husband Pablo. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love for them was boundless.

Linda lived a life marked by compassion, humor, and quiet strength. A proud graduate of Braintree High School (Class of 1973), she continued her education at Quincy Junior College, and later at Massasoit Community College. Her career reflected her dedication to helping others — from her early years as an executive administrative assistant at Gillette, to her work as a certified home health aide with Norwell VNA, and most recently, as a long-term care unit coordinator at Newbridge on the Charles.

She found beauty in simple things: traveling to new places, especially Ireland in 2019, growing tomatoes and cucumbers in her garden, and filling her life with the color purple. Linda had a lifelong love of animals and shared her heart and home with many beloved pets, including Shadow, Cleo, Maggie, Jazzie, and Melody.

To those who knew her, Linda was a sister, friend, “pizza girl,” and light in many lives. Her resilience, kindness, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street (Rt 37), Braintree on Saturday, August 2nd from 10am-11am followed by a service at the funeral home at 11am. In honor of her vibrant soul, guests are encouraged to wear purple.

In lieu of flowers, the family sincerely requests donations may be made in Linda’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/) or the ASPCA (https://www.aspca.org/), two causes close to her heart.
