Kathleen "Kathy" Flynn of Braintree, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026 at the age of 79, in her Braintree home. She was born on October 27, 1946 in Quincy, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her parents, Edmund and Evelyn (Pompeo) Flynn, her stepmother, Majdis (Andersen) Flynn, her brother Alton Flynn, and her sister Marion Flynn. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn (Flynn) and her husband, Peter Mavilia, her niece, Julie Mavilia and her partner, Seth Curto, her nephew, Mark and his wife, Molly Mavilia, and many grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her long-time friend, Deborah Toma.

Kathy started her teaching career at the St. Joseph Catholic School in Holbrook, Massachusetts and then moved to the Monatiquot Elementary School and the Mary E. Flaherty Elementary School in Braintree, Massachusetts. She loved teaching elementary students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades. Her special talent was working with students that had special needs helping them learn that they were able to do many things by believing they could be successful with her assistance. Her teaching career spanned 37 years and after retiring, she volunteered her time helping in many classrooms at the Flaherty School.

Traveling to Ogunquit, Maine and Chester, Vermont on long weekends or on summer vacations, was a nice change of pace. Kathy also loved visiting with close friends and their children and watching those children grow into young adults. She was loved by many children, parents, friends and her family.

Kathy gave to family and friends always. She also donated on a regular basis to the Wounded Warrier Project and Shriners Hospital for Children for many years. In lieu of flowers, making a donation in her name to the listed programs would be appreciated.
