Josephine Walsh, 83, of Braintree, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Josephine brought with her the warmth, humor, and strong sense of family that defined her Irish roots. After moving to the United States, she made her home in Braintree, where she lived for 52 years and built a life centered around love, laughter, and devotion to her family.

Josephine found great joy in the simple pleasures of life — sewing, baking, shopping, and caring for her home. Her house was always filled with the sound of music, the scent of something delicious in the oven, and, of course, a cookie jar brimming with her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies.

She was beloved by her late husband, Frank Walsh, and is reunited in heaven with her late daughter, Martina Walsh, and her cherished grandson, Sean Johnson.

Josephine is survived by her loving children; Caroline Erving and her husband Jeff of Hyannis; Patricia Johnson and her husband Mark of Centerville; Julie Casey and her husband Bill of Braintree; Lora Dalton and her husband John of East Bridgewater; and her son Joseph Walsh and his wife Pam of Norwood. Beloved sister of Mary Newman, Patricia Collier, Charlie McCord, Fran Thirtle, Lu Brown, Bernadette Black, and the late Ann Kearney. She was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and adored her many great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Josephine will be remembered for her kindness, her nurturing spirit, and the warmth she shared so freely with everyone who entered her home. Her legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on through all who were fortunate to know her.

A memorial Mass will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. 

A Celebration of Life will follow at the Braintree/Weymouth Elks Club on Liberty Street in Braintree at 12 PM.
