Joan F. (Casey) Perkins, a longtime resident of Braintree and Lakeland FL., died peacefully Friday, January 10, 2025 at Queen Anne’s nursing home in Hingham.

Born in Boston to the late John and Johanna G. (O’Donnell) Bresnahan, she was raised in North Quincy and was a graduate of North Quincy High and Mass. General School of Nursing.

Beloved wife for 29 years to the late Robert F. Perkins. Former wife to the late Richard J. Casey.

Loving mother of Carol A. (Casey) Burrows and her husband Steve, of Lincoln RI; Michael R. Casey and his wife Shirley, of Pooler, GA; Richard J. Casey and his former wife Cindy of Whitman,  and Marco Island FL; Kathy J. (Casey) Cowing and her husband Chuck of Versailles, KY; the late Timothy J. Casey and his former wife Stacy of Kauai, HI and Grass Valley, CA; James P. Casey and his wife Cathy of Braintree; John J. Casey and his wife Barbara of Quincy; and William R. Casey and his wife Julie of Braintree.

Devoted Grandmother to Michelle, Jennifer, Donna, Michelle, Leslie June, Richard, Johanna, Kristen, Chuck, Alicia, Brendan, Conner, Keleigh, Max, Sidney, Derek, Jimmy, Ryan, Ben, Becca, Alex, Matt, Danny, Patrick, Shauna, Kyle and Shannon.

Dear Sister to the late Jack Bresnahan of Weymouth, the late Ann (Bresnahan) Fitzgerald of Chicago IL, Carol (Bresnahan) Radley of Whitman, and the late Joyce (Bresnahan) Agnew of Hanover.

Beloved aunt to Patti Eunice, Sue Tonello, Tommy Radley, Colleen Manison and Paul Radley. She is also survived by many, loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Joan was an avid reader, traveler, and collector of art from the many places she visited. Joan and her husband Bob spent 14 peaceful years together in Lakeland, FL. surrounded by many friends and family. Joan was an RN, educated at Mass. General School of Nursing. She worked as a visiting nurse for the town of Whitman, then became a Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Brockton VA Hospital. Joan travelled to Washington D.C. several times to advocate for Veterans care, her name is still on some Veterans care policies today. Joan was known as a wonderful listener, who rarely judged, but often gave good honest advice in conversation. She is already missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends will be celebrating a Mass and a celebration of life in the Spring to honor Joan. A memorial Mass will take place at the Church of Saint Clare, 1244 Liberty Street, Braintree on Saturday, April 26th at 10:00am. Inurnment will follow at the Cemetery at the Green, located on Plympton Street (Rt. 105), in Middleborough. A celebration of life will be held following the burial at the Son’s of Italy, Braintree at 1:00pm located at 161 King Hill Road.
