Joan F. Matthews 88, of Quincy died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 10 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Boston after a brief illness surrounded by her family.
A former resident of Dorchester, Joan was the only child of the late Frances (Barry) and Paul Matthews. She had been a resident of Quincy for the past 55 years. A graduate of Dorchester High School for girls, she was a sales representative for Watson Mailing Company in Everett, prior to her retirement. Joan enjoyed golf, traveling and all Boston sports.
Joan is survived by many cousins. She is also survived by her dear friend Gloria Brummitt. Joan was her caregiver for several years.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 14 at St. Agatha Church, 432 Adams St., Milton at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rt.37), Braintree prior to the Mass from 8:30-10:00 AM. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
