A. Jeannette (Kormann) Sylvester Boardman, a beloved Braintree resident and dedicated church lady passed away peacefully on January 9, 2016 at the age of 96. Jean was born on March 21,1919 and lived in the Braintree area most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Louise (Embree) Kormann.

During her youth, Rainbow Girls was a special part of her life. She served as Worthy Advisor of Assembly #30. She especially enjoyed being involved with athletics in high school. Upon graduating from Braintree High School Class of 1937, Jean was employed by the Town of Braintree for over thirty years where she worked in the Town Hall and School Department.

Jean will be remembered as a devoted member of the Heritage United Methodist Church of Braintree for more than sixty-five years and an active member of its Women’s Society. In 2004, she was honored with Special Mission Recognition by the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.

Jean was the wife of the late Stanley R. Sylvester Sr. and later in life the late Herbert O. Boardman. She is survived by her son Dr. S. Russell Sylvester Jr. and his wife Nancy of Farmington, CT, her daughter Jane Sylvester Lowy Koley of Bloomfield, CT and the late Karen L. Sylvester.

She was the loving grandmother of Joshua Lowy and his wife Jody, Jason Lowy and his wife Laura and Allison and Sarah Sylvester. Jean is also leaves eight great grandchildren.

She leaves behind and adoring sister, Louise Belyea and her late husband, Bob, of Dade City, FL and a loving sister-in-law, Mary Sweeny Kormann, wife of the late Marty E. Kormann, Jean’s devoted brother. Jean was predeceased by a caring sister, Myrtle Kormann Kussmaul and brother-in-law, Elwyn Sylvester and his wife Helen, and a sister-in-law, Olive Sylvester Davenport and her husband Winslow. She was also predeceased by a precious niece, Lauren Belyea and a dedicated nephew John Kussmaul.

Jean will be greatly missed by her dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends, especially the Golden Girls.

A special thank you for the loving care provided at Pope Rehab and Nursing Home, Weymouth, MA.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday January 13 from 9:30am-10:45am at the United Heritage Methodist Church at 236 Grove Street, Braintree, MA with a funeral service to follow at 11am. There will be a reception in the church hall following burial at Blue Hill Cemetery.
