James F. Nicholson 96 of Braintree passed away at home May 6, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Amelia A. [Tocci] to whom he was married to for 64 years. Loving father of Gail Peacock of Plymouth, James Nicholson and Michael Nicholson both of Braintree and William Nicholson of N. Andover. Brother of the late John and Thomas Nicholson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Born in Newport News VA. he has been a resident of Braintree for the past 94 years. Jim was a WWII Coast Guard veteran, a member of the Braintree Knights of Columbus, the Fore River Long Service Club and an avid Red Sox fan. He retired in 1982 after 43 years as a welding instructor at the Bethlehem Steel/General Dynamics shipyard in Quincy. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 13 at 10:30 A.M in St. Francis of Assisi Church S. Braintree Sq. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the McMaster Funeral 86 Franklin St. (Rt.37) Braintree, on Monday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Hospice of the South Shore 30 Reservoir Park Dr. Rockland MA 02370-1055. Interment St. Francis of Xavier Cemetery Weymouth.
