George J. Mattie Obituary

Cambridge – George “Jeff” Mattie, age 66, formerly of Braintree, passed away suddenly on October 28, 2024.  Jeff was the son of the late Thomas Mattie and Anna (Chiavaroli) Mattie.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country. He began his working career as a welder at the Quincy Shipyard and eventually became a member of the Piledrivers Union, Local 56 working for J.F. White Contracting for many years on various projects including the Boston Big Dig, Quincy’s Fore River Bridge, and the North Washington St Bridge over the Charles River.

He is survived by his daughter Marisa Mattie of Middleboro, MA, his brother Tommy Mattie of Nottingham, NH, sisters Sharon Inglis of Ormand Beach, FL and Kellie Farina of Plymouth, MA and a stepsister Michell Mirotta of Buzzards Bay, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews, numerous extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, December 4 from 3-6pm at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Braintree. A private burial will take place at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
