Frances “Betty” Devine Cameron, of Braintree and Quincy MA, passed away on August 29, 2022 at the age of 98.
Betty was born in Boston, MA on November 25, 1923. She worked for many years as a sales associate at the former Kennedy’s in the South Shore Plaza. She was a versatile conversationalist who never seemed to meet a stranger she couldn't connect with. She would talk easily and endlessly to folks in the checkout line, sitting next to her on a plane or simply walking by.
Betty loved cards and played Cribbage competitively. She also thoroughly enjoyed endless rounds of Skat with her family. Betty traveled extensively to visit her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for travel; especially to casinos and for shopping expeditions. The PGA Tour was a special interest, particularly tournaments when Tiger Woods was in the field. Betty also had a great love of Frank Sinatra's music.
She adored her many friends at 1000 Southern Artery, where she was a fixture in the senior community. Betty lived a full life and spread joy wherever she could be found.
She was the beloved wife of the late Philip P. Cameron and loving mother of Gail Hall and her husband Jeffrey K. Hall, of Orange, CT, Valerie Cameron of Londonderry, NH, the late Paul P. Cameron and his wife Eileen (McKay) Cameron, of Richmond, VA and Cynthia Cameron of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late John and Katherine Devine and dear sister to the late Hazel (Devine) Dockendorff, and sister of the late John Devine. She was the proud Grammy of 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by the many whose lives she touched.
Relatives and friends of Betty’s family are respectfully invited to attend a funeral Mass at 12:30 pm on Saturday, September 3rd at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington St., Braintree. Interment will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
