Donna Mae (Hatch) Payne, also lovingly referred to as “Mamacita” and “DeeDee”, 84, of Braintree, MA (formerly of Allston and Abington, MA) passed away peacefully on March 26, 2022. She was surrounded by family and friends in her final days and hours, and exceptionally cared for by the staff of the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home of Braintree, MA.
She is survived by her two sons, Darrin C. Payne and daughter-in-law, attorney Josey Lyne Payne, of Albany, NH; Derek C. Payne of Cuba, NY; her brothers Dana Hatch of Gloucester, MA, and Larry Hatch of Phoenix, AZ; her sister, Leona (Hatch) Meunch of Camano Island, WA; four grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Clyde O. Hatch and L. Madeline (Fields) Hatch, of Braintree and Rockport, MA; and her best friend of 72 years, Joan (“Gussie”) Brooks of Braintree, MA.
Donna retired at the age of 82 from Air-Draulic Engineering, Co., Inc. of Randolph, MA in 2019. She graduated from Braintree High School with the class of 1955, where she played basketball; and maintained many of those friendships throughout her life and was a stranger to none; she loved with abandon, and was loved by all. She was an avid reader, and always made enjoying life surrounded by friends and family her priority. She enjoyed many activities including golf with BWGA; bowling; bingo; and tennis with the Abington Slammers.
Services will be private and meaningful, at her request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home, 670 Washington Street, Braintree, MA 02184.
