David M. Hurley, 89, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Braintree, went to Heaven on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
He was cared for by his loving family. He was the child of the late James Hurley and Josephine (Falino) Hurley.
David was a Substation Operator for Boston Edison for 34 years. He also had a house painting business for many years.
David was a veteran of the Korean War serving overseas in the United States Air Force. In his earlier years he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, tending to his garden, reading the newspaper cover to cover and was an avid New England Patriots fan. David and family members enjoyed going to the track to bet on the dogs and horses. David will be sorely missed by his family.
Loving husband of his wife, the late Frances (Manning) Hurley for 55 years. David is survived by his children David Hurley Jr. and his wife Debbie of Braintree, Karen Grasso and her husband Rich of East Bridgewater, Patti Vannelli and her husband Joe of Braintree, and Lisa Calkin and her husband Joe of Hanover. Stepfather of Michael Wright and his wife Mary of Norfolk, Jo Ann Green and her husband Ed of FL, and Warren Wright and his wife JoAnn of Franklin.
David also had three siblings, the late Ann (Hurley) Broughton of Dorchester and his brother, the late Donald Hurley of South Boston. He is survived by his loving sister Mary Hurley of Quincy. He leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
All are welcome to attend David’s funeral Mass on Monday, August 28, at 11am at the Church of Saint Clare, 1244 Liberty St., Braintree. Interment Braintree Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
