David R Gargano Obituary

David Richard Gargano, of Braintree, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at age 85.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on April 13, 1940, David was the son of the late Antonio and Dorothy Gargano.

David grew up in West Quincy where he enjoyed playing football, baseball, golf and making life long friends in what he considered “God’s Country”. After he graduated from Quincy High School in 1957 he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served six years. In September 1962, David married the love of his life, Mary, and settled in Braintree where they raised four children. David graduated from Bentley University in 1969 and worked as a Certified Public Accountant, owning his own business until his retirement.

David left a strong legacy of traditions, love of sports and life lessons. Every Christmas and Easter he cherished making homemade ravioli alongside his family, creating lasting memories together. He was a life long Boston sports fan and instilled that love to his grandchildren who enjoyed watching games with him. Most importantly, he took pride in passing words of wisdom to his family, teaching them all the valuable lessons he learned throughout his life. He was much loved by all who knew him and will forever be in our hearts.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Joyce) Gargano.

He was the devoted and beloved father of David Gargano, Jr of Braintree, Susan Barry and her husband James of Abington, Nancy Romero and her husband Marcelo of Braintree and Andrew Gargano and his wife Riccie of Austin, TX. Forever cherished by his grandchildren, Christopher, Jeffrey, Zachary, Michael, Alexander, Antonio, Josephine and Juliana. He is also survived by his brother James Gargano of Hingham, his sister Judith (Bruce) Snyder of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
