Cecilia (Flavin) O’Brien, 82, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Braintree, Massachusetts, on July 11, 2025.

Cecilia had a deep love for art and was a truly creative soul. Whether she was painting, crocheting, decorating elaborate birthday cakes, or crafting imaginative Halloween costumes for her family, she poured her heart into every creation. Her artistic spirit left behind not only beautiful works of art but also treasured memories that will live on through those who loved her.

Above all, Cecilia’s heart belonged to her two grandchildren, Selena and Christian. They were the absolute light of her life. From playing Mario Kart with them and the tradition of camping at Horseneck Beach, she showered them with unconditional love, joy, and moments they will cherish forever. She was a devoted and proud grandmother, and her bond with them will always remain.

Cecilia was the daughter of the late John and Flora Flavin. She shared many years of marriage with her former husband, the late Robert O’Brien. She is survived by her loving daughters, Cecilia Fenelon and son-in-law Chris Fenelon of Quincy, and Donna O’Brien of Braintree. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Selena and Christian. Cecilia was the loving sister of 5 siblings, of which she leaves behind two surviving siblings and is reunited in rest with three who predeceased her. Aunt to many loving nieces and nephews—including five godsons—great-nieces and nephews, and a circle of dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A visitation to honor Cecilia’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street (Rt. 37), Braintree, MA 02184. Family and friends are kindly invited to celebrate the life of a woman remembered for her warmth, creativity, and boundless love.
