Anthony C. "Tony" Manganello Obituary

Anthony C. “Tony” Manganello, age 84, a lifelong resident of Braintree, died peacefully Saturday, May 10th at home.

Tony was a Braintree police officer for 37 years, retiring in 2001.

Born in Boston to the late Lucius and Ruth F. (Johnson) Manganello, he was a graduate of Braintree High School. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force stationed at Loring Airforce Base in Limestone, ME.

Beloved husband for 56 years to the late Margaret A. (Blute) Manganello.

Loving father of Ann M. Berry and her husband Robert, of Braintree; Theresa M. Marini and her husband Daniel of Hanson; Anthony J. Manganello of Braintree; and Nancy E. Long and her husband Christopher of Bridgewater.

Devoted grandfather to Matthew, Jason, Bobby, Angela, John, and Caroline.

Dear brother to Bill Manganello of Plympton, Paul Manganello of Kingston, Ruth DiRocco of Braintree, Jim Manganello of Braintree, and Cathy Blushi of Braintree. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Tony was an avid vegetable gardener. Taking pride in his eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers. He was also very mechanically inclined and was known locally for fixing lawn mowers and snowblowers. He took great pride in being a police officer for the town he loved. Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin Street, (Route 37) Braintree. A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Clare, 1244 Liberty Street, Braintree on Saturday, May 17 at 10:30 am. Interment at Saint Mary Cemetery, Randolph.

For those that wish, donations may be made in Tony’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
