Stephen J. Maloney of Braintree, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 25, in his home following a long illness at the age of 66.
Born in Boston on June 11, 1951, he was a son of the late Anthony J. and Mabel A. (Doran) Maloney. Stephen was the owner of Braintree Basic Transportation.
He will always be remembered for his thoughtfulness and generosity, love of reading and his great love of sports, especially baseball, but most of all for his sense of humor. During his life he visited many Caribbean Islands recently returning from Anna Maria Island Florida, where he had a great time with his sister-in-law Barbara; his two brothers-in-law Peter and Chuck, nieces Gretchen and Rachael and her husband Rob, their children Allison and Sean, his friend Kory, as well as Gretchen’s daughter Sarah.
Stephen was the beloved husband of Paula L. (Meroth) Maloney; devoted father of Stephen J. Maloney Jr and his wife Susan of Severn MD, Sean Maloney and his wife Jeanette of Amherst NY, Catherine Hester and her husband Timothy of Braintree and Melissa Cram and her partner Morris Lemay of Braintree. Dear brother of Anthony J. Maloney and his wife Sandra of Murrells Inlet, SC, Joan Thureson and her husband Malcolm of Hanover, Judith Maloney of Marshfield, Marianne Rose of Vashon Island, WA. Cherished grandfather of Jordyn Mcgowan, Edward B. Maloney, Stephen B. Maloney, Ashlyn Emma Maloney, Hannah Margaret Maloney, Margaret “Maggs” Hester and Sean Hester; much loved great grandfather to Emme McGrath. Also survived by his aunt Leona Doran of Quincy and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend memorial visiting hours in the McMaster Funeral Home 86 Franklin St (RT 37) Braintree Saturday May 5 from 11AM to 2PM. Burial will be private.
