Margaret M. (Melchin) Sullivan 86 of East Bridgewater formerly of Braintree for 47 years passed away at home September 7, 2018 surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late Thomas F. Sullivan. Loving mother of Mary Louise Butler and her husband Lindsey of Nantucket, Brian Sullivan of Weymouth, Elizabeth Ramey and her husband Otis of Dothan Alabama, Judith Brodie and her husband Kenneth of East Bridgewater, Jean Noj of Derry New Hampshire and the late Christopher, Thomas and Michael Sullivan. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother John Melchin of Pembroke, Brother in-laws Charles Sullivan and William Sullivan PHD of Castleberry Alabama and her dear cousin Carol White of Hingham. Born and raised in Dorchester she was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing Central High School class of 1949. She volunteered in the Girls Organization at the Charlestown YMCA were she met her future husband Seaman Thomas F. Sullivan of Castleberry Alabama. Margaret was a Camp Fire Group Leader for 12 years and a Teachers Aide in the Braintree school system for 10 years. She was happiest and most fulfilled as a volunteer lector at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Braintree. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a sponsor of the St. Joseph Indian School for the Lakota children in South Dakota for 25 years and St Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Smile Train for cleft palate reconstruction. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday September 13 at 10:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church 856 Washington St. Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the McMaster Funeral Home 86 Franklin St (Rt 37) Braintree Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family sincerely requests that donations in her name be made to the Tribute Program St Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105-1942
