Helen M (Furlong) Clougherty

Helen M. Clougherty, age 95, of Spruce Pine NC died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her residence.

Born on September 11, 1921 in Braintree, MA; she was the daughter of the late Edward and Julia Keough Furlong.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frances Edward Clougherty, Sr. and her siblings Edward, Charles and Andrew Furlong and her sister; Virginia Phillip.

Helen had been a resident of Spruce Pine for the past five years.  Along with her husband; Frances, she was the secretary for his printing business, Boston Printing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for twenty-one years.  She loved her church and supported every aspect of church missions and outreach programs.  She enjoyed sewing and was a very generous and giving person that always thought of others first.

Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Mike Clougherty of Spruce Pine and Frances E. Clougherty, Jr. of Miami, FL; her sister; Mary Furlong of Braintree, MA; and her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit the McMaster Funeral Home 86 Franklin St (Rt 37) Braintree  Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  Interment will be in Blue Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Mitchell County, 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC  28777.
