Barbara A. (Shallies) Batiste

Barbara A. (Shallies) Batiste passed away peacefully on February 26th, 2024 at Alliance Health Braintree, surrounded by her family, she was 91 years old. 

Born and raised in Holbrook, Barbara was the daughter of the late Louis and Elsie (Gullans) Shallies.  She was predeceased by her sisters Marion and Evelyn, and her brother Bill.  Barbara had been a resident of Braintree for the past 70 years. 

After her career working for Johnson & Johnson, Barbara enjoyed her retirement surrounded by her family. She spent countless days and hours watching after her grandchildren, whom she loved more than anything.  She was an avid Red Sox fan, never missing a game on TV.  She enjoyed many camping trips with her family as well as trips to Cape Cod, she especially loved her girls’ weekend trips to Ogunquit, Maine.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Marion Batiste of Duxbury, Barbara Kaye and her husband Paul of Braintree, Charlene Monaghan and her husband Jack of Bridgewater, Ann Monaghan and her husband Bruce of Braintree, Michele Batiste and her husband Jeff Spellman of Sebastian FL, Marlene Dickson and her husband Dana of Sanbornton NH, and Christine Pickering and her husband Barry of Braintree. Barbara was a beloved Nana of 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours from 4-7pm on Thursday, February 29th at McMaster Funeral Home, 86 Franklin St. (Rt. 37), Braintree. A Funeral Service will be held at McMaster Funeral Home on Friday, March 1st, at 12:00pm; burial to follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
