Marion F (McNamara) Gotta

BRAINTREE:  Marion F. (McNamara) Gotta, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Marion was born in Dorchester, MA and later moved to Milton.  She graduated high school in 1955 and was the first in her family to attend college.  While at Emmanuel College (class of 1959) she met her husband, the late Ernest J. Gotta, to whom she was married for 50 years. It was love at first sight for Ernie and he got her number from a Nun, or so the story goes. Marion became an elementary school teacher, and the two moved to Braintree, where they lived for 36 memorable years raising their family and getting involved in the community.  Marion worked as a classroom teacher as well as for Chapter 1, which served children who needed extra help for 28 years, mostly in Braintree Public Schools. When she wasn’t teaching or spending time with her family, Marion enjoyed, playing tennis, making crafts, entertaining friends and traveling the world. Marion is predeceased by her parents, Francis L. & Marion F. (Costello) McNamara, and her brother, Francis McNamara. She is survived by her children, Brian J. Gotta and his wife KaraRose of Weymouth, Susan F. Colclough and her husband Steven of Whitman, David A. Gotta and his wife Angie of Mint Hill, NC, Julie E. Rose and her fiancée Mark Lloyd of Easton, thirteen adoring grandchildren, her sister, Evelyn Toch of NH, several nieces, nephews, and in-laws in Weymouth and Springfield. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday March 12, at 11AM  in the Church of St. Clare 1244 Liberty St. Braintree Highlands. Visiting hours are omitted. Burial will take place in Braintree Cemetery.
